To be honest I'm not sure, but I would think right before dawn would be the best. THC production is done at night time, so allowing it the full night would be best. But I don't see how it would be any better than doing it during the day, the THC got produced already. I know that for vegetables/fruits you want to harvest in the early morning, but that is because the vegetables/fruits will be full of juices and firm(they soften during the day because of the sun), but that doesn't really apply to cannabis.

If I had to give an answer I guess I'd pick night/dawn, but I don't know if there is any real reason one would be better than the other. Google might know.

I've read that the prime time is pretty much right at dawn, or when your lights come on. If you need to harvest at night for clandestine purposes, by all means, do so. I think the difference is negligible, so pick the best time for you to do the work.
